About the role
The Checkout Operator ensures the checkout department runs smoothly, delivering excellent service to customers while maintaining accurate tills.
Key responsibilities
- Operate a computerised till with barcode scanner, weighing and pricing items such as fruit and vegetables.
- Verify customers' ages for age‑restricted products and process coupons, vouchers and payments.
- Balance the till at the end of each shift and handle cash responsibly.
- Stock shelves, check inventory and keep the checkout area well presented.
- Participate in team meetings and apply learned improvements.
Required profile
- Minimum 2 years experience in a retail environment.
- Ability to balance tills accurately and manage cash.
- Strong communication skills and customer‑focused attitude.
- Attention to detail, organisational flexibility and initiative.
- Team player able to work in a fast‑paced setting.
