About the role
The Market Cashier operates the cash register and scanner, processes payments, and provides courteous assistance to customers in a fast‑paced retail environment.
Key responsibilities
- Operate cash register, scanner, scale and printers; handle cash, checks, credit cards, WIC, gift certificates, coupons and voids.
- Maintain a clean, safe checkout area; stock shelves, rotate products and assist with bagging items.
- Follow store policies for tobacco, over‑the‑counter drugs and vendor check‑in; adhere to cash‑handling procedures.
Required profile
- High school diploma or equivalent; prior retail or customer‑service experience preferred.
- Dependable, well‑organized, able to lift up to 70 lb and work in refrigerated areas.
Required skills
- Excellent written and oral communication.
- Basic math skills for cash handling and transaction processing.
