Climate and Food Security Specialist

About the role

The Climate and Food Security Specialist will lead and oversee climate‑resilient agriculture initiatives that enhance food security for vulnerable communities in Uganda. This role combines project management, technical oversight, and stakeholder coordination to deliver high‑impact results.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, budget, implement, and monitor complex climate‑focused agricultural projects.
• Provide technical oversight on climate‑resilient agriculture, food systems, and market‑oriented livelihoods programming.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across technical and operational functions.
• Manage project budgets, workplans, risks, and performance reporting to donors.
• Engage with government, private‑sector actors, community structures, and other stakeholders, especially in displacement‑affected settings.
• Integrate gender, inclusion, accountability, and safeguarding considerations into all programme activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, agricultural economics, agribusiness, food security, natural resource management or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience managing complex projects, including planning, budgeting, implementation oversight, team management, monitoring and donor reporting.
• Strong understanding of climate‑resilient agriculture, food systems and market‑oriented livelihoods programming.
• Experience working with government, private‑sector actors and community structures, preferably in refugee‑hosting or displacement‑affected contexts.
• Full professional proficiency in written and spoken English.
