Cost and Business Controller

About the role

AGL (Africa Global Logistics), a multimodal logistics operator (port, logistics, maritime and rail) in Africa and part of the MSC Group, is hiring a Cost and Business Controller in Kampala. The role supports management and operations by providing financial and operational analysis to improve performance, profitability and decision-making, acting as a finance partner to operational teams.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly financial and operational reports in line with Group standards and deadlines.
• Analyse revenues, costs and margins, and explain performance against budget and forecasts.
• Develop and monitor annual budgets, forecasts and multi-year business plans with finance and operations.
• Analyse variances between forecasts and actual results and propose corrective actions.
• Monitor and analyse KPIs related to activity, productivity and profitability.
• Support operational teams in understanding financial performance and improving cost efficiency.
• Implement and maintain management reporting tools and dashboards for senior management.
• Support investment analysis and financial follow-up of projects and CAPEX.
• Contribute to strategic projects such as business development, restructuring or operational improvements.
• Ensure consistency and reliability of financial and operational data across reporting tools and systems.
• Prepare ad-hoc financial and business analyses requested by management.

Required profile

• Strong analytical and financial modelling skills.
• Good understanding of P&L, cost structures and operational drivers.
• Ability to work with operational teams and turn data into actionable insights.
• Strong organisation, communication and administrative follow-up skills.
• Rigorous, meticulous and able to meet 100% of deadlines.
• Commitment to the quality, confidentiality and reliability of information.
