Credit Officer – Customer Lending & Portfolio Management

About the role
The Credit Officer will support Zupa Financial Services by evaluating loan applications, building relationships with borrowers, and ensuring timely repayment of micro‑finance products across multiple branches in Uganda. This full‑time position focuses on expanding the customer base while maintaining a healthy loan portfolio.
Key responsibilities
- Identify and recruit potential borrowers for micro‑finance products.
- Assess customers’ loan needs and determine eligibility.
- Process loan applications and follow up throughout the approval cycle.
- Monitor repayments, track portfolio performance and flag delinquent accounts.
- Establish and maintain strong customer relationships to promote repeat business.
- Provide high‑quality customer service and address borrower inquiries.
Required profile
- Minimum diploma from a recognised university or institution.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Previous experience in micro‑finance is an added advantage.
Required skills
- Creative problem‑solving.
- Negotiation abilities.
