English Language Teacher (Primary Cambridge Curriculum)

About the role

The Aga Khan Schools in Uganda are seeking a dedicated English Language Teacher for primary classes following the Cambridge curriculum. The role involves creating a positive learning environment and fostering students' academic and personal growth.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver effective English lessons, prepare daily lesson plans and assess student progress.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly classroom, monitor student appearance, attendance and homework.
• Collaborate with colleagues and participate in professional development to improve teaching practices.
• Engage with parents through conferences and meetings to discuss student performance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Education with a major in English language and literature (English double major) and a PGDE.
• Minimum of 3 years teaching experience on the Primary Cambridge curriculum.
• Training in differentiated instruction and learner‑centered methodologies.
• Excellent communication skills and strong knowledge of contemporary teaching methods.

Required skills

• Proficiency in the use of educational technology.
• Outstanding written and reading skills in English.
