Youth Coach – Community Engagement

About the role

The Youth Coach will mobilise and enrol eligible youth, deliver sport‑based mental health sessions and support community‑level activities to promote psychosocial wellbeing and inclusion.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and enrol youth according to project criteria, maintain accurate records and support assessments.
• Facilitate structured sport‑based group sessions using the Game Connect Sport for Mental Health curriculum, adapting to age, abilities and needs.
• Promote safe, inclusive participation of girls, boys, refugees, host‑community youth and youth with disabilities.
• Refer participants to specialised MHPSS, health, protection or other services as needed.
• Conduct household visits, identify barriers to participation and report findings.
• Support community engagement, mapping of referral points and economic empowerment activities such as VSLAs and IGAs.
• Ensure compliance with AVSI safeguarding, PSEAH, child protection, data protection and other policies.

Required profile

• Minimum Diploma in Social Sciences, Community Development, Social Work, Education or related field.
• Ability to work in a multicultural team, cultural sensitivity, patience and flexibility.
• Experience in community work, preferably with NGOs or government, and with refugees or host communities is desirable.

Required skills

• Demonstrated coaching, mentoring and capacity‑building abilities.
• Experience facilitating sport‑based or psychosocial activities for youth.
