ESG Reporting Officer

About the role

Our client, a respected organisation in the forestry and sustainability sector, is looking for a highly organised ESG Reporting Officer to join their team in Uganda. The role will manage ESG reporting for multiple Development Finance Institutions, ensuring compliance with global sustainability frameworks.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate ESG data collection across Uganda and Tanzania.
• Prepare high‑quality ESG, DFI and sustainability reports.
• Ensure compliance with IFC Performance Standards and UN Guiding Principles.
• Manage reporting calendars, deadlines and submissions.
• Train internal teams on ESG requirements and reporting standards.
• Liaise professionally with DFIs and external stakeholders.
• Support implementation and optimisation of ESG systems (IMS, ESG software).
• Contribute to ESG strategy, governance and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Degree in Sustainability, Social Sciences, Journalism, Humanities or related field.
• 3–5 years of ESG experience.
• Excellent English writing and communication skills.
• Confidence engaging with DFIs and external stakeholders.
• Willingness to live and work in Uganda and travel between Uganda and Tanzania.
• Preferably female and African (Ugandan, Kenyan or other African national).

Required skills

• Experience with ESG frameworks such as IFC Performance Standards and UN Guiding Principles.
• Familiarity with ESG reporting software and Integrated Management Systems (IMS).
