Finance Volunteer – Accounting Support for Humanitarian NGO

About the role
The International Rescue Committee is seeking a Finance Volunteer to assist with day‑to‑day accounting tasks. This unpaid position supports the Finance Officer in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with IRC policies and GAAP.
Key responsibilities
- Process invoices (PO and non‑PO) and prepare payment vouchers.
- Handle mobile‑money transactions and reconcile cash and mobile‑money accounts.
- Track staff advances, reimbursements, and petty‑cash replenishment.
- File supporting documents in Box and Integra and retrieve audit materials.
- Prepare cheques, collect cash from the bank, and monitor payment folders.
- Orient staff on finance policies and ensure adherence.
- Execute bulk data imports and adjustments.
- Perform any other finance‑related duties as assigned.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce or Finance.
- Experience with an organization and familiarity with computerized accounting packages (preferred).
- Strong organizational abilities and capacity to work under pressure.
Required skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience using accounting software.
