Fleet Assistant

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a proactive Fleet Assistant to support transport operations at its Yumbe and Imvepi field sites in Uganda. Reporting to the Transport Manager, you will ensure the smooth coordination of staff movement, vehicle and motorcycle allocation, and the upkeep of fleet assets while maintaining security and audit compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain an up‑to‑date preventive maintenance schedule for all vehicles, motorcycles and generators, coordinating servicing with approved providers.
• Track service history, mileage, repair costs and spare‑part usage, ensuring accurate records.
• Conduct routine inspections, identify mechanical issues and follow up on pending repairs.
• Prepare monthly fleet reports and weekly fuel reconciliations for the field sites.
• Ensure all fleet assets carry current documentation, including insurance, and are cleaned and secured daily.
• Support the Transport Manager in evaluating fleet utilization, maintenance needs and overall transport performance.
