Human Resource Associate

About the role

The Human Resource Associate will support key HR functions for GiveDirectly in Kampala, ensuring smooth recruitment, onboarding, payroll, benefits administration, and HR compliance. This fixed‑term position reports to the HR Manager and contributes to a culture of high ownership and professional growth.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end recruitment: job ads, candidate sourcing, screening, interview coordination, offers, and onboarding.
• Administer payroll and benefits, respond to employee queries, and maintain records in BambooHR and Payspace.
• Maintain HR documentation, conduct audits, and support internal/external audit processes.
• Coordinate special passes, work permits, and expatriate documentation.
• Organise employee engagement events, learning & development activities, and disciplinary committee support.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; postgraduate HR degree is a plus.
• Minimum 3 years generalist HR experience, preferably in the NGO sector.
• Strong knowledge of Uganda employment law and HR best practices.
• Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with HRIS platforms (BambooHR, Payspace).
• Proficiency in Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Meet, Calendar).
• Familiarity with payroll processing, benefits administration, and statutory compliance.
