Learning Commons & Innovation Coordinator

About the role

The Uganda Christian University Library seeks a senior professional to lead its Learning Commons and Innovation services. The role combines coordination of AI literacy programmes, maker‑space activities and digital learning support for students and researchers.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate learner‑centred services that foster collaborative, independent and experiential learning.
• Manage the AI Literacy Studio, designing programmes on AI prompt literacy, critical evaluation of AI outputs and responsible generative‑AI use.
• Facilitate ideation, design thinking, prototyping and interdisciplinary innovation projects.
• Oversee podcasting, video/audio production, photography, graphic design and digital storytelling services.
• Collaborate with academic schools to develop library services that strengthen problem‑solving and practical skills.
• Design and deliver training on information discovery, digital citizenship, research technologies and emerging digital tools.
• Recruit, train and supervise student assistants, peer mentors and technology assistants.
• Monitor usage data, feedback and learning outcomes to drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Library and Information Science, Educational Technology, Computer Science, Digital Learning, Innovation or a related discipline.
• At least five years of relevant experience, including two years in a supervisory or coordinating role within an academic library setting.
• Demonstrated experience in academic libraries, learning commons, makerspaces or comparable environments.
• Strong oral and written communication, facilitation and collaboration skills.
