Manager, Business Development – West & Far West

About the role

Lead the Regional Coverage business in the assigned West & Far West region, turning strategy into sustainable growth, strong portfolio performance and exceptional client outcomes for Standard Bank Group.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and deploy high‑impact client strategy plans across core BCB sectors and drive execution through the Relationship Management team.
• Cultivate anchor relationships with key regional decision‑makers to unlock high‑value commercial opportunities and channel qualified leads to Commercial and Enterprise Relationship Managers.
• Map and penetrate high‑potential sector ecosystems, guiding RMs on cross‑selling techniques across BCB and Corporate & Investment Banking lines.
• Analyse regional macro‑economic trends and competitor shifts, transferring insights to the RM team to enhance advisory capabilities.
• Own the regional budget, pipeline velocity and cost‑to‑income ratios while ensuring strict compliance and zero covenant breaches.

Required profile

• First degree in Business, Commerce or a related field.
• 5‑7 years of relevant experience in Business or Commercial Banking, including portfolio management, branch sales or client service.
• Knowledge of banking products, client onboarding, KYC, risk and compliance requirements.
• Experience in an offshore financial environment with strong statistical analysis abilities.
