Managing Director

About the role

The Managing Director will act as the strategic business leader for a leading insurance brokerage in Uganda. This confidential role is responsible for driving operational excellence across General, Corporate, and Life Insurance portfolios while ensuring regulatory compliance, client satisfaction, and sustainable growth.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute operational strategies that support business growth, improve efficiency, and strengthen market presence across all insurance lines.
• Lead business development initiatives, build strong client and partner relationships, and deliver tailored insurance solutions.
• Oversee underwriting, risk assessment, and claims operations to ensure effective coverage and profitability.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and promote ethical, transparent business practices.
• Drive technology and digital transformation initiatives to enhance efficiency and client experience.
• Manage budgets, forecasts, and financial performance to achieve cost efficiency and profitability.
• Supervise regional operations across Uganda, expanding market reach and forging strategic partnerships.
• Lead, develop, and motivate high‑performing teams, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
• Maintain high standards of claims management and client service to ensure strong satisfaction levels.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in Business Administration, Insurance, Risk Management or related field (MBA preferred).
• At least 15 years of progressive senior operations leadership experience in an insurance brokerage.
• Professional insurance qualifications such as FCII, ACII or equivalent.
• Proven track record of leading large, complex insurance operations and driving growth.
