Medical Laboratory Technician

About the role

The Uganda Heart Institute is hiring a Medical Laboratory Technician in Kampala (Kamwokya) to carry out laboratory investigations and deliver accurate, timely and reliable results that support the diagnosis, treatment and management of patients.

Key responsibilities

• Record and manage patient data and laboratory results.
• Conduct records management and phlebotomy in the OPD and wards.
• Perform laboratory investigations and dispatch reports to wards and clinics.
• Prepare specimens and reagents according to standard operating procedures.
• Service and calibrate laboratory equipment and maintain an inventory of laboratory equipment.
• Manage the inventory of blood and blood products.
• Prepare reports and account for resources allocated.
• Maintain the general cleanliness and safety of the working environment.

Required profile

• Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology/Techniques or its equivalent from a recognised institution.
• Certificate of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
• Registered with the Allied Health Professionals Council with a valid practicing licence.
• Minimum of three years of experience in a reputable healthcare facility.
