Nutritionist / Dietician

About the role

The Uganda Heart Institute is hiring a Nutritionist / Dietician in Kampala to provide nutritional services and clinical dietary guidance to inpatients and outpatients with cardiovascular and comorbid conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Assess nutritional requirements for cardiac patients and provide tailored dietary recommendations.
• Sensitise patients and caregivers in the OPD and inpatient wards on dietary prevention and management of non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
• Review patients' nutritional and dietary habits and adjust dietary plans according to their clinical condition.
• Adjust dietary plans in coordination with the Senior Clinical Nutritionist based on clinical progress.
• Consult with Senior/Principal Clinical Nutritionists on complex clinical cases.
• Keep up to date with contemporary clinical, dietary and biomedical nutritional management trends.
• Respond to queries from healthcare providers about patient diet orders.
• Carry out community nutrition outreaches to raise awareness of heart-healthy diets.
• Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Clinical Nutrition, Food Science and Technology or Nutritional Sciences from a recognised institution.
• One year of working experience in a hospital setting or healthcare provider institution.
