Senior Medical Research Officer

About the role

The Uganda Heart Institute is looking for a Senior Medical Research Officer in Kampala. The role manages commissioning and grant management processes to support the delivery and dissemination of research, maintains research documentation and monitors adherence to protocols.

Key responsibilities

• Support the design, delivery and management of research projects with lead researchers, and help design and improve research processes.
• Disseminate research findings to internal and external stakeholders.
• Support research programs by developing timelines, tracking milestones and monitoring budgets.
• Gather input from the team and the wider research community, and identify risks with proposed mitigation measures.
• Work with communications teams on the flow of research information.
• Help develop applications and selection processes for grant and award holders, and manage selection and assessment panels.
• Organize advisory group meetings, events, seminars and training sessions, including logistics, documentation and minutes.
• Manage data in organization-wide research databases and identify improvements in knowledge and information systems.

Required profile

• MB.Ch.B. or equivalent degree.
• Master's degree in a health sciences discipline.
• Post-graduate training in project planning and management or a related field is an added advantage.
• Minimum of six years of experience in clinical research management.
