Office Driver for International NGO

About the role

The FHI 360 Office Driver is responsible for safe transportation of staff, consultants, and visitors across Uganda, while maintaining the vehicle and supporting logistics operations.

Key responsibilities

• Transport personnel to approved locations, ensuring professional conduct and adherence to road safety regulations.
• Maintain accurate vehicle logbooks, mileage, fuel records, and trip authorizations.
• Conduct daily pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections, reporting any defects or safety concerns.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance, servicing, and repairs with the Fleet/Logistics team.
• Report accidents, incidents, breakdowns, and security concerns promptly.
• Ensure vehicle documentation (insurance, registration, MTP) is current.
• Assist with loading, securing, and delivering supplies, equipment, and official materials.
• Plan routes based on schedules or ad‑hoc requests and fulfill special errands as needed.

Required profile

• High School Diploma/UACE.
• Minimum 5 years driving experience with a project vehicle, preferably donor‑funded.
• Defensive driving certificate, valid driving licence, and clean driving record.
• Ability to operate under challenging road, weather, traffic, or security conditions.
• Physical ability to drive long hours, sit/stand for extended periods, and lift up to 5 lbs.

Required skills

• Defensive driving techniques.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, SharePoint, and video‑conferencing tools (Skype, Zoom, Teams).
• Use of personal computer/laptop, mobile phone, and standard office equipment.
