Registered Midwife – Healing Grace Medical Center

About the role

The Registered Midwife will deliver safe, high‑quality maternal, newborn and reproductive health services at the Healing Grace Medical Center in the Serere community. Working within a Christ‑centered, non‑profit environment, the role focuses on woman‑centered care that aligns with Uganda Ministry of Health standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive antenatal care, including assessments, health education, tetanus immunisation, iron/folic acid supplementation, deworming and malaria prophylaxis.
• Screen, monitor and manage routine and high‑risk pregnancies, referring complicated cases promptly.
• Offer HIV counselling, testing and PMTCT services for HIV‑positive mothers.
• Attend and manage normal vaginal deliveries, using the partograph and other MoH‑approved tools to monitor maternal and fetal wellbeing.
• Deliver post‑natal care, newborn assessments and family‑planning counselling.
• Maintain accurate antenatal and delivery records and mother‑baby health cards.
• Collaborate with the Clinical Officer, other health workers and the community to promote safe motherhood and child health.

Required profile

• Registered Midwife with a valid licence in Uganda.
• Minimum 24 months of relevant clinical experience.
• Commitment to compassionate, respectful, woman‑centered care.
• Ability to work in a faith‑based, community‑focused setting.
• Strong communication skills and willingness to engage in health education.

Required skills

• Antenatal care (ANC) assessments and interventions.
• Partograph monitoring during labour.
• HIV counselling and testing.
• Prevention of mother‑to‑child transmission (PMTCT) services.
• Maternal and newborn record keeping.
