Sales Engineer - Irrigation Solutions (SPT)

About the role

A technically skilled and commercially driven Sales Engineer is sought to join Q-Sourcing in Kampala. The role bridges engineering and sales, helping farmers, agribusinesses and institutional clients across Uganda select, design and adopt the right irrigation solutions while driving revenue growth.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and develop new business with commercial farms, smallholder cooperatives, greenhouses, NGOs and government agricultural projects.
• Visit sites to assess land, water sources, soil type and crop needs, then recommend suitable irrigation systems such as drip, sprinkler, centre pivot and solar-powered pumping.
• Prepare technical proposals, system designs and cost estimates (BOQs) tailored to client needs and budgets.
• Deliver product demonstrations and technical presentations, and negotiate pricing, contracts and payment terms in line with company policy.
• Work with the technical and installation teams so designs are feasible and correctly implemented.
• Provide after-sales support, troubleshooting and follow-up, and represent the company at trade shows, farmer field days and industry events.
• Track sales targets, prepare regular sales reports and update the CRM pipeline.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Agricultural, Mechanical, Water Resources or Irrigation Engineering or a related field.
• 3 years of experience in technical sales of machinery and agricultural equipment.
• Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets is an advantage.
• Fluency in English and other local languages is a strong advantage.

Required skills

• Excellent communication skills, able to explain technical concepts to non-technical clients including smallholder farmers.
• Strong negotiation and closing skills.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office/Excel for quotations and reporting.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD or irrigation design software is an added advantage.
