Senior Accreditation Officer – Mechanical Engineering

About the role

The Senior Accreditation Officer (Mechanical Engineering) will coordinate accreditation and quality assurance for TVET programmes related to agriculture, veterinary and mechanical engineering. The role ensures compliance with the TVET Act, 2025 and related policy standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct technical evaluations and site assessments of TVET providers applying for accreditation or renewal.
• Prepare detailed evaluation reports and submit recommendations to the Manager Accreditation.
• Monitor accredited institutions, identify deficiencies and recommend remedial actions.
• Report non‑compliant providers and implement Council decisions on suspension or revocation of accreditation.
• Liaise with professional bodies and sector associations to align training programmes with market needs.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field.
• Professional certification in Occupational Health and Safety (mandatory).
• Minimum 2 years experience in occupational health and safety practice.
• At least 5 years supervisory experience in reputable public or private entities.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of the TVET Act, 2025 and TVET Policy Implementation Standards, 2019.
• Understanding of national and international occupational health and safety standards.
• Proficiency with accreditation data management systems and general computer literacy.
