About the role
The Senior Health Project Officer will work under the supervision of the Health Manager to support a polio eradication initiative focused on enhancing Acute Flaccid Paralysis (AFP) surveillance. The role is based in Lamwo district, Uganda, and targets communities near the South Sudan/Uganda border and refugee settlements.
Key responsibilities
- Support implementation of the project aimed at contributing to polio eradication by strengthening AFP surveillance.
- Directly implement the community AFP surveillance program across the district.
- Collaborate closely with the District Health Team and other relevant stakeholders.
- Provide on‑the‑job coaching and mentoring to health facility staff to improve AFP case detection, reporting, and response.
Required profile
- Proven experience in health project implementation, preferably in humanitarian or refugee contexts.
- Familiarity with AFP surveillance and polio eradication activities.
- Ability to work effectively with district health authorities and community partners.
- Strong coaching and mentoring skills for health facility personnel.
