Social Dialogue & Labour Relations Expert – East Africa

About the role

Vashi Impact Group is seeking experienced Social Dialogue and Labour Relations Experts to join its network for research, evaluation and consulting assignments across Burundi, Tanzania and Uganda. The immediate task is to assess the impact of Danish Industry‑supported interventions on social dialogue, collective bargaining, labour relations and workplace practices.

Key responsibilities

• Assess interventions aimed at strengthening social dialogue and collective bargaining.
• Examine collective bargaining agreements, dispute‑resolution mechanisms and alternative dispute‑resolution systems.
• Evaluate occupational health and safety practices and gender‑responsive workplace policies.
• Analyse employer‑worker engagement and the roles of employer organisations, trade unions and workers’ representatives.
• Conduct stakeholder consultations and contribute to programme outcome assessments.
• Identify implementation barriers, enabling factors and opportunities to scale effective interventions.
• Contribute to mixed‑methods analysis, cross‑country comparisons, evaluation reports and evidence‑based recommendations.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or higher in Labour Studies, Industrial Relations, Labour Economics, Public Policy, Development Studies or related field.
• At least 8 years of professional experience in evaluations, impact assessments or applied research, including mixed‑methods expertise.
• Demonstrated knowledge of social dialogue, labour relations, collective bargaining, ADR, OHS or employer organisations.
• Experience working with employer associations, trade unions or other labour market institutions.
• Strong analytical, stakeholder‑engagement and report‑writing skills.
• Fluency in English.
