Sonographer – Diagnostic Ultrasound Specialist

About the role

The Sonographer will provide high‑quality diagnostic ultrasound services to patients in the Pallisa Community health centre. Working closely with the Clinical Officer, the role combines technical scanning, image interpretation and patient‑centred care.

Key responsibilities

• Perform obstetric, gynecological, abdominal and general soft‑tissue ultrasound scans as requested.
• Position patients, operate ultrasound equipment safely, and obtain diagnostic‑quality images.
• Interpret findings, prepare clear reports and flag urgent or abnormal results for immediate action.
• Conduct antenatal scans to assess gestational age, fetal growth and wellbeing.
• Maintain, calibrate and clean ultrasound equipment, ensuring infection‑prevention protocols are followed.
• Document all scans accurately, manage imaging statistics and submit required reports.
• Monitor consumables (gel, printing paper) and support inventory management.
• Coordinate appointment scheduling, prioritising urgent referrals.
• Assist with inspections, audits and compliance with national health regulations.

Required profile

• Minimum two years of experience performing diagnostic ultrasound scans.
• Ability to work under the supervision of a Clinical Officer and collaborate with the maternal health team.
• Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and data protection standards.
• Willingness to provide holistic care, including emotional and spiritual support when appropriate.
