Teller – Foreign Exchange Operations

About the role

The Teller will provide accurate and secure foreign‑exchange counter services, ensuring excellent customer service and strict compliance with procedures and regulations. The role involves handling cash, processing transactions, and maintaining detailed records.

Key responsibilities

• Buy and sell foreign currencies at approved rates, calculate exchange amounts, commissions and change.
• Receive, count, verify and pay out cash, check notes for authenticity and follow counterfeit‑note escalation procedures.
• Balance the till at the start and end of each shift, reconcile transactions and report any shortages or overages.
• Issue receipts, maintain transaction records in the bureau’s system and supporting documentation.
• Verify customer identification, complete due‑diligence forms and ensure compliance with AML/CFT requirements.
• Observe transaction limits, approval levels and cash‑handling controls, escalating suspicious or unauthorized transactions.

Required profile

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience in cash handling, teller operations, banking, forex or customer‑facing financial services is an advantage.
• Strong numerical, reconciliation and attention‑to‑detail skills.
• Basic computer literacy and ability to use transaction systems and spreadsheets.
