Trainee Branch Manager

About the role

Uzima Microfinance Uganda Limited is seeking a motivated Trainee Branch Manager to support the daily operations of its Mbale branch. This entry‑level position offers hands‑on experience in microfinance services, customer acquisition, and portfolio management while contributing to financial inclusion in Uganda.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily branch operations to ensure smooth and effective service delivery.
• Drive branch targets for customer acquisition, savings mobilization, and loan portfolio growth.
• Monitor loan portfolio quality, repayments, and recovery of overdue loans.
• Supervise, coach, and support branch staff to meet performance objectives.
• Prepare accurate and timely MIS, financial, and operational reports.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
• Manage branch cash flow, banking, reconciliation, and fund accountability.
• Lead branch meetings, staff reviews, and performance planning.
• Support business development, community mobilization, and product promotion.
• Identify operational challenges and drive improvement solutions.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field.
• Experience in microfinance, banking or branch operations is an advantage.
• Strong computer skills and familiarity with MIS/reporting tools.
• Solid understanding of credit management, savings mobilization and portfolio management.
• Excellent leadership, communication and analytical abilities.
• High integrity, accountability and professionalism.
• Willingness to work in the field and travel as required.
• Age 35 years or below.
