Utility Cleaner - Steward

About the role

Marriott Hotels is hiring a Utility Cleaner (Steward) at its hotel in Kampala, Uganda. The cleaners support several key hotel functions, often working across departments such as the kitchen, food and beverage and laundry. The position is full-time and non-management.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare fresh clean linen and spotless dining ware for guests.
• Operate and maintain cleaning equipment and tools such as dishwashing machines, hand-wash stations, linen washers and dryers.
• Transport dishware and linens across the hotel.
• Create a safe workplace, follow company policies and procedures, uphold quality standards and keep a professional appearance and communication.
• Maintain positive working relationships, support the team and report accidents, injuries and unsafe conditions to the manager.
• Move, lift, carry, push and pull objects of up to 50 pounds, stand, sit or walk for long periods, and reach overhead and below the knees.
• Perform other reasonable duties requested by supervisors.

Required profile

• No high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
• No related work experience or supervisory experience required.
• No license or certification required.
