Commercial Kitchen Designer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Kitchen Designer to create efficient, functional kitchen layouts for restaurants, cafés, bakeries, catering facilities and central kitchens in Kampala. The role involves translating client requirements into detailed drawings and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless project delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Plan commercial kitchen workflows and space utilization.
• Produce equipment layout and shop drawings.
• Create utility coordination, exhaust hood and ventilation plans.
• Design cold room, freezer and stainless‑steel fabrication drawings.
• Coordinate with architects, MEP consultants, contractors and suppliers.
• Conduct site visits and manage project coordination.
• Prepare bills of quantities and equipment specifications.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years experience in commercial kitchen design.
• Experience with restaurant, bakery, café or central kitchen projects.
• Diploma or degree in Drafting, Architecture, Interior Design, Mechanical Engineering or related field.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Familiarity with SketchUp or other 3D modelling software (preferred).
