Cook II – Food Service Role

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Cook II to join its food‑service team supporting a U.S. Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role is based in Kampala, Uganda and involves preparing nutritious, high‑quality meals in a professional, welcoming environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare a wide variety of meals, snacks and beverages according to menu specifications.
• Ensure all menu items meet nutritional guidelines, quality, taste and presentation standards.
• Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation in food preparation, storage and serving areas.
• Provide courteous service to create a relaxing atmosphere for customers.
• Identify and communicate any menu item shortages and mark unavailable items appropriately.
• Complete mandatory food‑sanitation training (four hours within the first 30 days and four hours annually).
• Collaborate with other food‑service staff to meet production schedules and customer satisfaction goals.
• Monitor food safety, proper storage and spoilage prevention.

Required profile

• Minimum two years of experience preparing and serving complex menu items.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures.
• Strong organizational and time‑management abilities.
• Ability to pass contract medical requirements and maintain necessary facility credentials.
• Proficiency in English sufficient to perform contract duties.
