Head of Credit Origination

About the role

The Head of Credit Origination leads a team that originates, assesses, structures, and executes structured debt and lending solutions for Business and Commercial Banking clients. The role works closely with Relationship Managers and product teams to deliver tailored financing, drive revenue growth, and ensure a seamless client credit experience.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, originate, and structure tailored credit and financing solutions across Business and Commercial Banking.
• Lead assessment and structuring of lending transactions to ensure commercially viable, risk‑aligned solutions.
• Participate in deal negotiations, structuring discussions, and business assessment forums.
• Conduct comprehensive financial, credit, industry, and market analysis to assess transaction viability.
• Identify emerging risks, portfolio vulnerabilities, and early warning indicators.
• Collaborate with Relationship Managers, Legal, Risk, Compliance, Product, and Operations teams for seamless deal execution.
• Engage external stakeholders such as valuers and legal advisors when required.
• Contribute to structured debt product growth through pipeline development and market penetration.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting or related field; postgraduate qualification advantageous.
• Minimum 8 years banking experience, with 5‑7 years in credit origination, corporate or business banking, or structured finance.
• Proven track record in credit analysis, financial assessment, lending transactions and deal structuring.
• Experience partnering with Relationship Managers and influencing client outcomes.
• Strong strategic thinking, commercial judgement, and results‑oriented mindset.
• Demonstrated integrity, accountability and professional judgement.
