Head of Finance (Uganda)

About the role

Eversend is seeking a Head of Finance to own the integrity of financial records, controls and reporting for its Ugandan business. This hands‑on position will manage the ledger, close processes and regulatory filings while building scalable, automated finance operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the monthly and annual close, ensuring accurate multi‑currency accounts and Ugandan statutory financial statements.
• Perform and oversee reconciliations of bank, customer‑fund, partner, float and ledger positions, investigating any breaks.
• Design, document and enforce maker‑checker controls, approval limits and accounting processes.
• Prepare and submit all required financial and regulatory‑finance returns on time.
• Maintain accounting integrity of trust and safeguarded customer balances, coordinating with Operations and Treasury.
• Drive external audit, tax compliance and statutory filings, maintaining a disciplined financial calendar.
• Identify repetitive finance processes and collaborate with Data, Product and Engineering to automate them safely.

Required profile

• Hands‑on accounting experience with a focus on financial control, statutory reporting and audit.
• Strong understanding of multi‑currency accounting and regulatory requirements in Uganda.
• Ability to work independently while partnering with Operations, Treasury, Compliance and Product teams.
• Proven track record of establishing reliable close processes and robust financial controls.
