Hygiene Supervisor

About the role

We are a family‑owned craft bakery producing award‑winning breads, pastries and gluten‑free products. As a Hygiene Supervisor you will lead the hygiene team to ensure our production areas meet the highest standards of cleanliness and food safety.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and work alongside the hygiene team to complete daily cleaning schedules.
• Clean bakery production areas, including equipment, floors, drains, walls and work surfaces.
• Support dismantling and reassembly of machinery for deep cleaning.
• Ensure allergen change‑over cleans are performed correctly.
• Operate hygiene equipment such as foamers, jet washers and other industrial cleaning tools.
• Monitor hygiene standards and address issues immediately.
• Support training and development of hygiene team members.
• Complete hygiene documentation, including cleaning records and pre‑operational checks.
• Handle cleaning chemicals safely in line with COSHH requirements.
• Collaborate with production, engineering and QA teams to maintain food safety standards.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience in a hygiene or cleaning role within food manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
• Ability to lead by example and work alongside a team.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Knowledge of COSHH and safe chemical handling.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑paced production environment.
• Desirable: previous team‑leader or supervisory experience, bakery or food manufacturing background, experience with BRC audit and compliance, and cleaning of production machinery.
