Rehabilitation & Recoveries Officer – Personal & Private Banking

About the role

The Rehabilitation & Recoveries Officer supports the Rehabilitation and Recoveries function within Personal & Private Banking. The role focuses on controlling arrear accounts, preventing them from becoming non‑performing loans, and implementing strategies to meet departmental objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Manage rectification and clearance of accounts entering arrears, limiting ageing to 0‑29 days and progressing them to the next stage.
• Conduct customer visits and apply recovery strategies while maintaining high service standards.
• Provide weekly progress updates to management on arrear account rectification and scheme performance.
• Identify and mitigate business risk by enforcing appropriate control mechanisms.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations, the Code of Banking Practice, and internal policies.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders for collaborative management of banking matters.

Required profile

• First degree in any business discipline from a recognized institute.
• Minimum two years of banking experience, preferably in credit, rehabilitation, recovery or legal departments of a Tier 1 institution.
• In‑depth knowledge of collection processes and ability to lead a team.
• Experience with credit control, bank lending products and relevant statutory legislation.
• Strong understanding of accounting, financial principles and corporate banking.
