Social Entrepreneurship Specialist & Project Development Lead

About the role

The client seeks a senior‑level Social Entrepreneurship Specialist who will lead the identification, design and testing of innovative social‑enterprise and income‑generating pilots across African programmes. This hands‑on role blends social‑development insight with an entrepreneurial mindset, requiring frequent field work to turn ideas into practical pilots.

Key responsibilities

• Proactively scout for community‑based business and market‑based solutions within African programmes.
• Engage directly with local entrepreneurs, cooperatives, and partners to uncover real economic opportunities.
• Convert promising concepts into concrete, testable pilot projects with clear business models.
• Develop operating plans covering products, target customers, pricing, costs, revenue streams and partnership needs.
• Design and launch small‑scale pilots, monitor performance, and iterate based on field feedback.
• Assess pilot outcomes and formulate recommendations for scaling, replication or termination.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in social‑enterprise development or similar project‑lead roles.
• Strong understanding of African community dynamics and market realities.
• Entrepreneurial, pragmatic and comfortable working in remote, field‑based settings.
• Ability to move from idea generation to operational pilot implementation.
