Head of Workplace IT

About the role

M-KOPA is looking for a Head of Workplace IT to lead the technology, services, and vendors that keep over 2,500 employees productive across multiple offices, warehouses, retail sites, and call centres in six African countries. You will own the end‑to‑end Workplace IT roadmap and ensure a secure, reliable, and user‑focused infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the Workplace IT strategy covering networks, telephony, end‑user compute, identity, and productivity tooling.
• Lead and grow a multi‑country Workplace IT team, managing OPEX and CAPEX budgets.
• Oversee wired and wireless network uptime, on‑premise server rooms, power, cooling, and physical security.
• Manage full lifecycle of laptops, desktops, phones and mobile device management (MDM) for 2,500+ staff.
• Implement identity and access management (directory, SSO, MFA) and joiner/mover/leaver processes.
• Control vendor contracts, licensing, SaaS spend, and AV/meeting‑room systems.
• Ensure security hygiene, patching, vulnerability remediation, endpoint protection, and business continuity.
• Stand up Workplace IT capabilities for new sites and market launches.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in Workplace IT or IT Operations at scale.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multi‑country teams and large budgets.
• Strong user‑centric mindset with focus on productivity and security.
• Experience in fast‑growing, distributed fintech environments is a plus.
