Senior Specialist Livelihoods and Climate Programming

About the role

Save the Children International is seeking a Senior Specialist to lead livelihoods and climate‑adaptive programming in Uganda. The role combines technical expertise, strategic planning, and partnership building to advance the organization’s child‑poverty agenda.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for livelihoods, climate‑adaptive programming and social protection within the child‑poverty portfolio.
• Design, implement and monitor high‑quality programmes that align with donor requirements, national policies and Save the Children standards.
• Build capacity of national staff and partners through training, mentorship and coaching.
• Support national advocacy, influence policy and develop strategic partnerships for business development.
• Lead the design and implementation of monitoring and evaluation systems to demonstrate impact.
• Represent Save the Children on priority issues defined by the Uganda Country Strategic Plan.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in livelihoods, climate‑adaptive programming and social protection, preferably in humanitarian and development contexts.
• Proven ability to lead technical design, manage complex programmes and ensure compliance with international standards.
• Strong relationship‑building and partnership management skills.
• Capacity to work flexibly during emergencies and adapt working hours as needed.
