Associate Software Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Associate Software Engineer to join Neptune Software’s development team in Kampala. The role is ideal for recent graduates or professionals with up to two years of experience who are eager to build enterprise and mobile applications using Java and Oracle technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Oracle PL/SQL scripts, packages, procedures and triggers.
• Build and optimise SQL queries for performance and reliability.
• Analyse business requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
• Integrate mobile applications with REST APIs and apply UI/UX principles.
• Perform database administration tasks such as backups, restores, migrations and health monitoring.
• Debug and resolve production issues to ensure system uptime.
• Collaborate with consultants, project managers and other technical teams to deliver projects on schedule.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or a related field.
• Up to 12 months of professional experience in Oracle PL/SQL development.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to work in a team environment.

Required skills

• SQL and PL/SQL programming.

• Oracle database administration and performance tuning.
• Docker and Kubernetes.
• Linux/Unix administration and basic networking.
• Understanding of SDLC methodologies and REST API integration.
