About the role

The Community Tree Manager will spearhead Tree Boston’s tree planting and care initiatives across both community and private settings. Reporting to the Director of Programs, this leader will guide a small team to ensure healthy urban forests.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan and execute community and private tree planting events.
  • Oversee tree stewardship activities such as watering, pruning, and health monitoring.
  • Collaborate with staff to develop training and educational programs on urban forestry.
  • Manage a 3‑4 person Tree Team, delegating tasks and monitoring performance.
  • Coordinate with local partners and stakeholders to promote tree‑related community engagement.

Required profile

  • Passion for urban forestry and environmental stewardship.
  • Experience in coordinating planting projects or similar community initiatives.
  • Ability to lead a small team and work cross‑functionally.
