Country Director, Uganda

About the role

GiveDirectly is seeking a dynamic Country Director to lead its Uganda office. Based in Kampala, you will own the development and execution of the Uganda Country Strategy, overseeing programs, fundraising, and external relations to deliver high‑impact cash transfer initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead program management, ensuring timely delivery, efficiency, and adherence to quality standards.
• Oversee budgeting and allocation of donor funds, maintaining operational efficiency.
• Coordinate with national and local authorities to secure program permissions.
• Establish and nurture safeguarding and anti‑fraud cultures, working with global compliance teams.
• Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with donors, foundations, and government agencies.
• Represent GiveDirectly publicly and manage media, government, and stakeholder relations.
• Travel across Uganda monthly and internationally 1‑2 times per year.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience managing a country office or large program portfolio.
• Strong track record in fundraising, donor engagement, and partnership development.
• Demonstrated ability to oversee budgets and ensure financial accountability.
• Experience working with government officials and securing operational permissions.
• Commitment to safeguarding, anti‑fraud measures, and ethical program delivery.
