Field Marketing & Sales Officer

About the role

Sej Ventures SMC Ltd sells high‑quality plastic rattan strips used for outdoor furniture making. The Field Marketing & Sales Officer will generate sales, engage clients, and promote products across Kampala.

Key responsibilities

• Start sales conversations with potential clients in the field and keep discussions active.
• Ask questions to engage customers and understand their requirements.
• Collect and document customer information, payment methods, transactions and product feedback.
• Manage incoming phone calls and WhatsApp chats to meet client expectations.
• Handle customer complaints promptly and resolve them professionally.
• Promote and support ongoing marketing launches and promotions.
• Maintain professional manners to build trust and confidence.
• Ensure confidentiality and integrity with internal and external customers.
• Respond to queries or refer them to the appropriate channels.
• Provide excellent service while processing orders and give design and product advice.
• Identify referral opportunities by uncovering customer needs and promote Come Again products.
• Achieve personal referral goals and actively participate in sales promotion activities and weekly meetings.
• Conduct market surveys of rattan furniture makers, workshops and buyers in Kampala areas such as Katwe, Ndeeba, Bwaise, Kireka, Kanyanya, Nateete, Nsambya, Buloba, etc.
• Identify, visit and sell rattan to furniture workshops and retailers.
• Achieve a sales target of 120 kg per day.
• Report daily sales, customer feedback, competitor pricing and demand.
• Bring new clients to Sej Ventures.

Required profile

• Some sales experience, preferably in construction materials, furniture, interior design or décor.
• Valid motorbike rider’s permit.
• Knowledge of furniture workshops in Kampala and other major Ugandan cities.
• Minimum Senior 4 education; a certificate or diploma is a plus.

What we offer

• Retainer of UGX 200,000 per month, paid at month‑end.
• Commission of UGX 500 per kilogram sold, paid weekly.
• Potential earnings of up to UGX 1,740,000 per month based on target sales.
• Transport facilitation and lunch provided.
