Sales Engineer – TAFE Diesel Generators (Kampala)

About the role

A full-time, permanent, field-based Sales Engineer is sought to grow the market for TAFE Diesel Generators across Uganda. The role suits someone who enjoys meeting customers, finding new business and turning opportunities into sales, working with contractors, developers, industries, consultants and commercial clients. The position is based in Kampala.

Key responsibilities

• Find and develop new business opportunities for diesel generators and visit customers and markets to generate enquiries.
• Build relationships with contractors, developers, consultants, industries and commercial clients, and identify construction and infrastructure projects needing backup power.
• Understand customer needs and suggest the right generator solutions, then prepare quotations and negotiate prices and commercial terms.
• Follow up on enquiries and close sales, while tracking visits, enquiries, quotations and sales activities.
• Achieve monthly and yearly sales targets, maintain relationships with existing customers and create opportunities for repeat business and referrals.
• Share regular sales reports and updates on the sales pipeline, and travel across Uganda to meet customers and develop new markets.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Business Administration, Marketing or a related field.
• 4 to 6+ years of B2B sales experience in engineering or industrial products.
• Preferred: experience in building materials, elevators and lifts, electrical cables and switchgear, power equipment, diesel engines and generators, pumps or HVAC.
• Proven ability to generate new business and meet sales targets, and a strong network among contractors, developers, consultants, procurement teams and commercial customers.
• Willingness to travel extensively across Uganda.

Required skills

• Strong communication, sales and negotiation skills.
• Good knowledge of customer handling and relationship management.
