Technical Advisor II – Climate Change & Landscape Restoration

About the role

You will provide strategic technical leadership, advice and support across program design, business development, implementation, learning and evidence generation in Climate Change Adaptation, Mitigation and Landscape Restoration for vulnerable communities in Uganda.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement CRS Uganda strategies, standards and tools for climate change adaptation, mitigation and landscape restoration.
• Provide technical solutions to country office teams for program design, implementation standards, partnership principles and M&E.
• Lead technical design of large proposals, including theories of change and MEL frameworks.
• Oversee strategic initiatives and discretionary‑funded investments that generate evidence and demonstrate impact.
• Support capacity strengthening for staff and partners through training, mentoring and coaching.
• Maintain relationships with donors, peer organisations and research institutions and represent CRS in relevant forums.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Climate Change, Forestry, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Agriculture or related field.
• Minimum eight years of relevant international experience, including at least three years in climate change adaptation/mitigation or landscape restoration.
• Proven experience in business development, proposal development and technical assistance for donor funding.
• Strong analytical, strategic and problem‑solving skills with ability to influence stakeholders.
• Fluent English; working proficiency in local language is a plus.

• Experience with budget management and information‑sharing systems.
• Technical writing and proposal development.
• Monitoring, evaluation and data analysis tools and methodologies.
