Assistant Accountant (Full‑Time)

About the role

The Uganda Christian University is seeking a diligent Assistant Accountant to support its finance team. This full‑time position involves handling vouchers, bank reconciliations, payroll verification, and budget monitoring for the university.

Key responsibilities

• Enter all payment vouchers and file bank statements for all university accounts.
• Answer student queries regarding fee status and provide banking information to senior finance staff.
• Prepare adjustments, reports, and identify anomalies for the Director of Finance.
• Check and verify payroll accuracy for full‑time and part‑time staff.
• Review monthly trial balances and ensure proper filing of vouchers, cheques, and receipts.
• Manage donated funds, statutory deductions, and conduct bank and cash reconciliations.
• Oversee budget projections, monitoring, and any additional duties assigned by the Bursar.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration or Business Science with an Accounting & Finance focus.
• Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CIA, FIA) from an internationally recognised institution.
• Minimum two years of relevant experience in a large public or private organisation.
• Ability to work under pressure and a committed, mature Christian ethos.
