Business Development Manager – Bancassurance & Alternative Channels

About the role

Turaco is seeking a commercially driven Business Development Manager to expand its bancassurance and alternative channel distribution in Uganda. This hunter role focuses on identifying and securing new partnerships with banks, micro‑finance institutions, SACCOs, fintechs, digital lenders, telcos and other organisations.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, pursue and secure new distribution partnerships across Uganda’s banking, micro‑finance, SACCO, fintech and alternative‑channel sectors.
• Own the full sales cycle from prospecting to proposal development, negotiation and contract signing.
• Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified prospects and deliver against new‑business and Gross Written Premium targets.
• Build strong relationships with senior executives, understand partner needs and create compelling business cases.
• Collaborate with product, underwriting and partnership success teams to launch and hand over new partnerships.
• Stay informed on market trends, competitor offerings and emerging distribution opportunities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, Insurance or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of business development or B2B sales experience, preferably in insurance, banking, fintech or financial services.
• Proven track record of acquiring corporate or institutional partners.
• Strong networking, negotiation and presentation skills with confidence engaging senior executives.
• Self‑driven, organised and comfortable working against ambitious commercial targets.
• Understanding of Uganda’s banking, micro‑finance, SACCO or alternative distribution landscape.
