Business Development Manager – Uganda

About the role

Optica Limited is looking for a Business Development Manager to lead the company’s expansion across Uganda. The role focuses on securing Optica’s placement on insurance panels, building relationships with corporate and government clients, and increasing brand visibility.

Key responsibilities

• Secure and maintain Optica’s inclusion on panels of all insurance providers offering optical coverage, including private insurers, corporate in‑house schemes and parastatal organisations.
• Develop and execute outreach programmes to promote the Optica brand with insurance companies, private corporations and government entities.
• Build strong relationships with insurers, corporates and parastatals to grow monthly business volume.
• Collaborate with the finance team to ensure timely payments from insurance and corporate clients.
• Monitor market trends and competitor activity to keep Optica aligned with industry developments.
• Identify growth opportunities, including potential new retail sites for Optica outlets in Uganda.
• Assist in marketing and brand‑building initiatives, both offline and online, to increase store footfall.
• Engage regularly with Optica staff at all levels to ensure alignment with company goals and address operational challenges.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports for senior management on business development progress, activities and results.
