Civil Engineer

About the role

Aptech Africa, an EPC (Engineering Procurement Construction) company specialising in solar energy and solar water pumping, is looking for a skilled Civil Engineer to join its team and help shape the future of Africa's infrastructure. The position is full time and based in Uganda.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake technical and feasibility studies, including site investigations
• Liaise with clients and a range of professionals, including subcontractors
• Manage civil works subcontractors and labourers
• Create civil work designs and quantify works
• Resolve design and development problems
• Manage budgets and project resources, and schedule material and equipment purchases and deliveries
• Inspect civil works materials and carry out structural assessments
• Ensure projects comply with legal requirements, especially health and safety, and assess their sustainability and environmental impact
• Keep projects running smoothly, within budget and on time

Required profile

• BSc in Civil Engineering
• 5+ years of experience in the civil engineering sector
• Background in quantity surveying
• Ability to work with associates and contractors in the field, ensuring safety, quality and schedule adherence
• Reliable and flexible, able to take direction, identify problems, develop solutions and analyse issues independently and collaboratively

Required skills

• Proven computer skills in Microsoft Office and design software
