Electrical Engineer – Solar and Water Pumping Projects

About the role

Aptech Africa, an EPC company specialising in solar energy and solar water pumping, is looking for an Electrical Engineer to join its team and help shape the future of Africa's infrastructure. The company offers complete energy assessments, solar designs and solar system installations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare quotations and bills of quantities for solar and hybrid water projects for domestic, urban, communal and industrial applications
• Prepare bid proposals for solar and hybrid water pumping projects
• Carry out field assessments for solar and water pumping projects
• Design, install, construct and supervise solar and water pumping projects, including off-grid solar systems, solar street lighting and power backup systems
• Conduct internal and external technical trainings and workshops, subject to management approval
• Provide after-sales services covering operation, maintenance and technical support for current and new clients
• Supervise project implementation and provide quality assurance assessments, and prepare evaluation reports on completed projects
• Support the marketing team with technical information for marketing materials

Required profile

• BSc in Electrical Engineering
• 5+ years of experience in the solar or renewable energy sector
• Ability to work with associates and contractors in the field and ensure safety, quality and schedule adherence
• Bilingual: able to speak English and French
• Reliable and flexible, able to take direction, identify problems, develop solutions and analyse independently and collaboratively

Required skills

• Proven computer skills in Microsoft Office
• Design software
