Coach for Youth Game Connect Programme

About the role

AVSI is looking for a Coach to facilitate structured group sessions using the Game Connect curriculum in Gulu, Uganda. The role focuses on promoting safe, inclusive participation and supporting youth psychosocial wellbeing.

Key responsibilities

• Mobilise, identify and enrol eligible youth and maintain accurate participant records.
• Facilitate youth group sessions using sport and games to build resilience, life skills and social connection.
• Identify protection, health or psychosocial concerns and refer participants to specialised services.
• Support household visits, community engagement and mapping of referral points.
• Assist with economic empowerment activities such as VSLAs, financial literacy and income‑generating projects.

Required profile

• Minimum Diploma in Social Sciences, Community Development, Social Work, Education or related field.
• Experience in community work, preferably with NGOs, refugees or host communities.
• Ability to work in a multicultural team, culturally sensitive, patient and flexible.

Required skills

• Demonstrated coaching, mentoring and capacity‑building abilities.
• Knowledge of safeguarding, PSEAH and child protection policies.
