Commissioning HVAC Superintendent (TIL)

About the role

McDermott is recruiting a Commissioning HVAC Superintendent (TIL) for its Central Processing Facility project in Uganda. Reporting to the Commissioning Manager, the role leads the coordination and execution of HVAC pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up and performance testing so that the plant meets its production and contractual objectives. The position covers the development of programs, procedures and activities for the safe and efficient commissioning, repair and maintenance of all plant HVAC equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the coordination and implementation of all HVAC commissioning requirements and execute the Commissioning Execution Plan
• Manage testing of HVAC major equipment packages and oversee pre-commissioning and commissioning by building and rotating machinery subcontractors
• Review and approve pre-commissioning and commissioning procedures and testing programs
• Liaise with equipment manufacturers and suppliers on pre-commissioning, commissioning and repair procedures
• Witness hydrostatic, performance and noise tests of each HVAC package; review interfaces with the Building Fire & Gas system and Black Start
• Develop work plans, safe work practice procedures, and provide HVAC input to the commissioning schedule, subcontracted scopes, spares, consumables and tools
• Liaise with the Systems Completion Manager on drawing systemisation and HVAC data validation, and review commissioning dossiers
• Plan daily activities, coordinate PTW and job safety analysis, and support vendors with SATs and initial start-up

Required profile

• Pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up experience as an HVAC lead or equivalent on at least 3 major EPC projects in the oil and gas industry
• 5+ years of experience with HVAC equipment packages in the oil and gas industry
• Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Strong oral and written English; second language is a plus
• Broad technical knowledge of construction and completion activities, and good presentation and organisational skills

Required skills

• Experience with AHUs, FCUs, chilled water and direct expansion, chilled water units, fan packages, fume cupboards and HVAC control panels
• Familiarity with HVAC design software and ASHRAE, DIN, EN and ISO codes and standards
• MS Office suite, with exposure to Navisworks and modelling packages
• Knowledge of OPERCOM and ICAPS on a large oil and gas project is a plus
