Commissioning Instrument & Control Specialist (TIL)

About the role

The Commissioning Instrument & Control Specialist (TIL) will support the Commissioning Instrument Superintendent in delivering safe and efficient pre‑commissioning, commissioning, start‑up and performance testing for a Central Processing Facility in Africa. The role combines hands‑on supervision of instrument technicians with technical validation of control systems to meet plant performance and contractual objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise pre‑commissioning activities, including pre‑energisation checks, repair and refurbishment of instrument equipment.
• Lead commissioning of instrumented systems and equipment packages for test runs and performance tests.
• Execute the Loop Testing program and validate control philosophies, cause‑and‑effect diagrams and interlock logic.
• Support functional safety verification activities such as SIL validation, HIPS testing, SIS testing and ESD logic.
• Coordinate and verify DCS/PLC/ESD/FGS system logic, reviewing control narratives, interlock functions, shutdown sequences and cause‑and‑effect matrices.
• Collaborate with the project team and client to maintain positive relationships and ensure compliance with project specifications.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional with at least 5 years of experience in instrument and control commissioning.
• Proven ability to supervise technicians and manage safety‑critical activities.
• Strong understanding of functional safety standards and plant start‑up procedures.
